Hope to maintain last year's profit this year: NHPC

NHPC has declared its first quarter results. The company’s Q1 net profit was at Rs 537 crore.

Its net sales were at Rs 1,020 crore.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, ABL Srivastava, Director-Finance, NHPC, spoke about the results and his outlook for the company.

Q: Can you take us through this quarter in terms of how many units of power you sold and what kind of average realizations?

A: We have sold 5,662 million units in this quarter as against 5,450 million units in the previous year.

Q: What is your return on equity right now?

A: Our profit has been Rs 517 crore as against Rs 502 crore last year.

Q: What do you think you could do for the full year in terms of return on equity?

A: We will be in a position to maintain last year’s profits, hopefully. Last year, we had one time income of Rs 800 crore plus.

Q: By the end of the year as well where do you expect installed capacity to stand at?

A: We have added 120 MW project this year. We are expecting to add one more project that is Uri-I unit and Chamera-I unit also and therefore the capacity will be announced accordingly.
